Caulis spatholobi (Spatholobus stem, Chicken Blood Vine), also known as Dense Flower Bean, is a climbing vine plant belonging to the legume family. Its compound leaves are papery or leathery with variable shapes; its flower stalks are covered with short yellowish-brown hairs, and the flowers are white with spherical, uniform anthers. The fruit is a flat, sword-shaped pod densely covered in short brown fuzz, and its seeds are oblong and flattened. The plant blooms in June and bears fruit from November to December. The name "Chicken Blood Vine" comes from the red sap that oozes from its freshly cut woody stems.
